Here is the update from my mom:
"When missionaries finish their missions, it is time to say goodbye! We had five missionaries leave during August and September. This is hard. We hate to see them go but we are excited for the next phase of their lives. There are a lot of pictures taken and tears. We know they are excited to see their families after 18 months and 2 years."
From my dad:
"On October 7th we welcomed 31 new missionaries into the mission. All of these missionaries are from stakes and districts within our mission boundaries Before their arrival we held a virtual new missionary orientation and introduced them to our mission, our goals, and the way we try to fulfill our missionary purpose in this mission. We greeted them when they arrived at the Lingsat chapel and spent an hour or so with them before transporting them to their assignments and new companions. It was an exciting day in the mission as we were able to reopen 10 new areas. These missionaries have been wonderful. They all went through on line MTC training and we wondered about their preparation and readiness. We have been so impressed by them and happy for them. They are having awesome experiences so far in the mission. Many have already witnessed their people be baptized. Some have been able to extend baptismal invitations. Their trainers have been loving and caring as they have taught them how we try to work with excellence and enthusiasm. Of course we are becoming attached to them and want them to stay with us for their entire missions. This won't happen. Eventually they will be off to their original assignments and it will be hard to let them go. In the meantime, we will enjoy them and try to help them progress and improve. Things are different but the work goes on and we are grateful to be here."
"There has been a lot of work to do getting ready for these missionaries. Our office elders and assistants spent a lot of time buying supplies and delivering them. Without any senior couples to help us with this, our young elders have stepped in and worked very hard getting everything ready for our new missionaries."
"October General Conference came and our grandkids were excited to remove another dot from their picture. Three dots removed and three to go!"
