Saying Good-Bye, New Missionaries, Interviews and more!

Here is a piece from my Dad's email this week:

"...The most common phrase we hear at church each week is "I am very much grateful".  Grateful for their families, their food and mostly for the Gospel that the missionaries have brought them.  They love each other and their tiny branches and they love President Nelson.  The most humbling thing is that they love us and thank us for coming here.  The branch Presidents make sacrifices to serve and they are well trained in church governance and policy.  They are always laughing.

... Each week we hear amazing stories of finding and conversion.  I interviewed a woman who got baptized last Saturday.  She was angry when the missionaries knocked on her door 3 months ago.  She told me how thankful she is that she, for some reason, listened to their short message.  I was amazed by the force of her testimony.  That is one story among many that are happening each week."

A big highlight for us girls was getting to go to my mom's friend, Dixie's, homecoming in Logan.  Her and her husband just returned from serving as Mission President in the Philippines as well!  It was so great to see her and my mom's other friend Cathie, and ask a million questions.

Two sisters who's service was coming to an end.

From July 16-26 they traveled around for interviews with each missionary:

Then they had a follow-up meeting with all the new missionaries who had been out for just one month, and their trainers:

Here is Sister Jane.  She was angry the missionaries knocked on her door, but then said she was so thankful they were brave and talked to her.  She knew what they said was true after the first hour of talking to them.

Faithful missionaries waiting in the rain for their interview!

Then it was time to say good-bye to these five great missionaries:

Walking back from dinner.  They went back to the mission home for a devotional and had a nice evening all together.

All of their belongings from home that they packed up back in May arrived safe!!!

Then, five new missionaries arrived!  They had a breakfast with them and their new trainers at the mission home.  My mom cooked french toast and scrambled eggs.  Some asked for rice, so you bet they had rice to go with it!  She had the Tabernacle Choir playing in the background and some of the US missionaries said it felt just like being home having breakfast on General Conference Sunday.  The new missionaries had some training and then were off.  My mom and Sister Lindenlaub packed them lunches with peanut butter sandwiches.

Each new missionary and their trainer:

Also: Their grandkids have missed them so much this summer!!  But they have had a lot of fun FaceTiming and sending videos on Marco Polo.  We are so grateful for modern technology!
