First Christmas in the Philippines

First Christmas!  All of us back here in Utah survived without our mom and dad.  How grateful we are for technology and that we were able to talk to them on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  While we missed them so much, we just wouldn't trade this experience.  We feel blessed to witness the work going forward in the Baguio Mission!  Here are some comments about the first Christmas in the Philippines from my mom:

"We are lucky enough to find places to eat with a beautiful view and sunset!  We are celebrating our December birthdays here.  I had a birthday in December along with Sister Lindenlaub and Sister Christensen."

"The plaza in downtown San Fernando had such pretty decorations.  We had a very fun time walking around this festive place!"

"We were able to go with the senior missionaries to Camp John Hay in Baguio before Christmas.  Baguio is much cooler and many people come to visit there during the Christmas holidays.  They have amazing decorations and we had such a fun time together.  We were able to go on a hike and enjoy the pine trees, flowering trees and beautiful views.  It's hard to believe there are pine trees in the Philippines!"

"Christmas Day was spent with our assistants and our senior missionaries.  On Christmas Eve one of our missionaries was in a bike accident.  He and his companion came to the mission home to spend Christmas with us also and then head to the hospital the next day.  He ended up having to travel back to the US for surgery and hopes to be back on his mission in February."

"The best part of the day was talking with our family.  They enjoyed Christmas Eve together at our house.  It was so fun to see them carrying on with all of our traditions.  It made me cry because I miss them all so much.  I'm so grateful for such a wonderful family.  I'm also so grateful for this chance to be here in the Philippines with such amazing missionaries and we loved spending Christmas with them."
